The concept of the training module is to serve as a communication tool helping to conduct an effective dialogue at the occurrence of an oil spill accident. An unlimited number of institutions, participating in an actual oil spill accident management, may be represented in the training system, giving a possibility for the trainers to play various roles while conducting the training.
Pre-defined training exercises are built on actual training scenarios and simulated in advance using the oil simulation tool SeaWebTrack. Exercises provide graphical maps – satellite shots – with oil spill locations and their development in time.
The training exercises were conducted together with the Admiral Danish Fleet (ADF) and the other country institutions, using their experience in the actual national oil spill exercises, and meeting their concrete training requirements. The prerequisite work included participation in several oil spill exercises together with ADF and watching both operational communication and sailing offshore together with the rescue teams. |
